Which Mac lipgloss is best?

It contains jojoba oil to soften lips and is free from fragrance.
What to know before you buy a Mac lip glass?
Mac lip glosses come in a range of different colors and formulas, so there are a few things worth knowing before you make your choice.
Application
Most lip glosses are sold in either a hard tube that includes a wand or a soft tube that requires you to squeeze the product onto your finger or a separate brush. This is different from lipstick, which is generally a cream formula that is twisted up and applied directly onto the lips. If you are looking for a lip gloss that is easy to apply and touch up throughout the day, one in a hard tube with an included wand is a great choice. If you don’t mind using a separate brush or your fingers to apply the product, a lip gloss in a soft tube often wastes less product than the hard tube option.
Ingredients
Are you concerned about skin sensitivity or allergens? Since lip gloss is applied on and around your mouth, it is essential to ensure it contains no ingredients that could cause a reaction. Many lip glosses are formulated with petroleum to give them a glossy look, but this can irritate if you have sensitive skin or lips. Other ingredients to avoid include parabens, silicone, synthetic fragrances, and mineral oil.
What to look for in a quality Mac lip gloss
Color and pigment
Mac Cosmetics offers a variety of lip glosses with different levels of pigmentation and color. Highly pigmented lip glosses will offer a bright color when applied, so if you are looking for a lip gloss to wear by itself, these are a great choice. Clear or lightly pigmented glosses will be far more subtle if worn alone and are great options if you want to layer the gloss on top of lipstick or liner.
Texture and moisturizing
Choosing a lip gloss with a comfortable texture is essential to wear it all day. Lip glosses have a thicker texture than typical lipsticks, and everyone will have a unique feel when worn. Selecting a lip gloss with a non-sticky and smooth texture is a great way to ensure it will be comfortable to wear. You should also look for a lip gloss that contains moisturizing ingredients, as this is a great way to hydrate your lips while you wear your makeup. Wearing lip gloss regularly can dry out your lips, so if you are looking for a product to wear every day, choose one with a hydrating formula.
How much you can expect to spend on Mac lip glass
Mac lip glosses vary in price according to the product line, finish, and added benefits of each item. You can generally expect to pay $19-$24 per lip gloss.

1. MAC Lipglass – Oh Baby
It is moderately warm-toned, medium brown with a sparkle finish. The shade “Oh Baby” is a golden bronze shade with shimmers as per the website and in my personal opinion as well. It looks quite pigmented in the tube and in hand swatches while it comes almost clear shimmery gloss on my lips with two swipes. It also means that it is a major skip for beauties with pigmented lips. And, I won’t suggest attempting multiple swipes with the gloss considering its thick, sticky texture which may be tricky upon two or more swipes.
My Experience with MAC Oh Baby Lipglass:
Well, I picked the smaller pack of $10 from another store, though I would have picked almost double the amount for only $15, bummer! The packaging seems as usual sturdy, plastic tube pack with doe foot applicator, nothing to fancy about. It does have a faint vanilla smell which is not overpowering. I didn’t like its doe foot applicator and found that my lip brush works better with this gloss. Overall, it seems quite user-friendly & travel-friendly packaging.
Pros of MAC Oh Baby Lipglass:
• A nourishing, lightweight shimmery golden bronze gloss
• It does nourish and hydrate your lips for good hours
• The shimmers on gloss come up way subtle on lips and not OTT
• It can be used alone or worn on top of any lip color
• It does not accentuate dry lips issues nor does it ever highlight dry, parched lips
• Lips feel well hydrated even after removing it
• Quite user-friendly and travel-friendly packaging
Cons of MAC Oh Baby Lipglass:
• The shade and finish are tricky for beauty with pigmented lips
• Staying power could have been better
• We do get a variety of lip glosses at a much lower price nowadays
• I am not impressed with its doe foot applicator
2. MAC Lipglass – Oyster Girl
Oyster Girl is a soft baby pink Lipglass. This light, cool-toned pink shade is paired with a warm gold pearl shimmer. It offers semi-sheer to medium coverage that lasts for hours. This shiny Lipglass moisturizes your lips and is vanilla-scented. Furthermore, it can be blended with pink lipsticks to create an evening or weekend look.
Oyster Girl-Price:
It is a permanent MAC lipgloss that retails for $21.00 and contains 0.1 oz.
My Experience with MAC Oyster Girl Lipglass:
I love Oyster Girl, it is one of my favorite MAC lip glasses! Oyster Girl is a pale shade, a mixture of pink and lilac laced with silver and gold shimmer – it truly is the color of the most exquisite pearl. It is a sheer color, so you will see your natural lip shade or your lipstick shade through it. It looks good both as a lipstick color and worn alone. It brightens up the lips and makes the teeth look whiter too. It has a high-shine finish and remains tacky for the duration of the wear time. It doesn’t dry out my lips and is comfortable to wear. It lasts around 4 hours on my lips. It applies easily and doesn’t smear or bleed. It can be layered without becoming goopy or overly sticky. It has MAC’s signature vanilla scent, which I love! I would highly recommend this shade and doubt I will ever find myself without a tube of this in my collection. Truly a fantastic lip gloss!
- High shine finish
- Non-sticky texture
- Long-lasting wear
- Wide range of shades available
- Can be used alone or layered over lipstick for added shine.
- It is quite sticky and tacky, which can be uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
- The color payoff is not as intense as some other lip glosses, which can be disappointing for those looking for bold lip.
- The gloss has a strong, sweet scent that may not be to everyone’s liking.
- It is relatively expensive compared to other lip glosses on the market.
- The applicator can be difficult to use and may not provide an even application.
3. MAC Lipglass- Love Child
MAC Lipglass in the shade Lovechild is a medium-dark plum-colored lip gloss. It has a warm undertone and copper shimmer that make it the perfect color for fall and winter. This Lipglass has a smooth texture and offers even coverage to your lips. It is also light-to-medium in weight.
Price:
It is a permanent lipgloss that retails for $21.00 and contains 0.1 oz.
My Experience with MAC Love Child Lipglass:
Shade: MAC describes this shade as coppered plum. MAC describes it just right and it indeed is a dirty plumy color with a hint of coppery brown and beautiful golden sparkles which I am in love with. The pigmentation is superb, one swipe and it goes opaque. The gloss can be rocked by simply any complexion and makes an ideal versatile gloss! You can layer it over lipstick for that oomph or you can just slather it on for a barely-there sparkle! This is totally my shade. I love!
Packaging: The lipgloss comes in a fuss-free typical transparent tube packaging with a nice spongy applicator that picks up the right amount of product in a single dip.
Quality: The texture is quite gloopy and thick as is the case with most MAC glosses but me being an ardent fan (can’t help it!) I really don’t mind the texture and though it is thick, it glides on pretty well on bare lips and is not streaky at all. Since it is gloopy it lasts a long time!! It stays on my lips easily through 4+ hours and rocks on through meals and chit-chat sessions. The fragrance is identical classic vanilla of the MAC lipsticks and I love it.
Pros of MAC Love Child Lipglass:
- Long-lasting color and shine
- Versatile shade suitable for all skin tones
- Smooth and creamy texture for easy application
- Moisturizing ingredients for hydrated lips.
Cons of MAC Love Child Lipglass:
- Expensive price point
- Limited shade range
- Can be sticky and uncomfortable on the lips
- Not long-lasting wear
- Can be overly glossy and overpowering in appearance.
4. MAC Lipglass – Prrr
Prrr is a peachy orange shade of MAC Lipglass. This peachy nude gloss with warm yellow undertones is perfect for medium skin tones. It is just the right amount of sticky, and it is lighter than the other Lipglasses in this range. This daily-wear shade has medium to semi-opaque pigmentation and can last up to four hours. Furthermore, it has a sponge tip applicator for quick, smooth, and even application.
My Experience with MAC Prrr Lipglass:
So my first impression of this lipgloss was pretty good, it was like a neutral pink color, so it wasn’t too dramatic to make my lips look fake. But it is bright and a little shimmery, so it gives a nice pizzazz to the lips! The only thing I don’t like about these lipglosses though is the brush because sometimes they irritate my lips after re-application during the day. But what I can say is that this lip gloss is actually moisturizing, so if your lips feel dry, you can count on this to make them feel and look better! The formula isn’t greasy, or thick and sticky, it’s really light and moisturizing. Once you put this lip gloss on your lips, you will notice the difference, it’s like an instant plumping, and your lips will be looking juicy for the day! If you want to apply this on top of colored lipstick, it would look very bold, and your lips will pop!
Pros of MAC Prrr Lipglass
- it is indeed a very natural “glossy” “dewy” kinda look
- it isn’t too sticky, just the right kind
- has a whole wide range of colors
- doesn’t taste yucky
- it did stay for more than an hour (considering most lipglosses I used won’t last an hour)
Cons of MAC Prrr Lipglass
- it is a bit pricey compared to other lip glosses available in the market
- that’s it! for now 😀
5. MAC Lipglass – Spite
MAC Lipglass in the shade Spite is a plummy brown lip gloss. This richly pigmented color looks great on a wide range of skin tones. It has subtle warm undertones that look flattering on all skin tones. This lip gloss goes on evenly and smoothly on your lips. It is easy to apply without a brush, and it gives your lips a creamy and glossy finish.
My Experience with MAC Spite Lipglass:
I love Spite Liglass! It is such a perfect mauve nude on my lips. I am a NC50 for ref. i can wear this lipglass with any eye look, this lipgloss is just perfect. A staple in my collection, and has been for a few years now. HG nude gloss.
Pros & Cons MAC Spite Lipglass:
- MAC Spite lipglass is dirty mauve brown lipglass. It is an awesome shade for those with dusky and medium skin tones. For some, this would be my lips but better color.
- It is semi-opaque so I have totally been wearing it on its own and it gives a nice color to my lips.
- The staying power with only drinks and snacks is around 4 hours. It even survives the full meal and in that case, the lipglass stays on me for around 2- 2 1/2 hours.
- It is not overly shiny, which I like but it gives such a nice fuller lip look.
- Not drying does not smear and has a lovely vanilla fragrance but no taste as such.
- The lipglass is quite thick but it does not settle in the fine lines of my lips.
- It is quite sticky and hence the good staying power, I guess. Some may have issues with it, but I have gotten used to wearing mac lipglasses over a period of time.
6. MAC Cremesheen Glass – Boy Bait
MAC Cremesheen Glass in the shade Boy Bait is a creamy and ultra-shiny lip gloss. This lip-finish product combines the creamy texture of a lipstick with the high shine of a gloss. It offers semi-sheer color coverage and is suitable to wear on any occasion. This light neutral beige with a warm undertone and pearl finish has a slight vanilla scent. It also lasts long on your lips. Its soft, comfortable, and non-sticky formula gives your lips a natural look.
My Experience with MAC Boy Bait Lipglass:
It’s shiny but not too spark, wearable but not sticky. With a firm doe-foot applicator, this best MAC lipglass brings you a very creamy, soft, moisturizing, and natural top layer. The color of MAC lipgloss cremesheen is also very diverse.
A lip finish that fuses the creamy, sheen-filled nature of Cremesheen lipstick with the shine of M·A·C Lipglass. Soft, comfortable, and non-sticky. Use as a top layer over its namesake lipstick or on its own.
Pros of MAC Baby bait Lipglass:
- Smooth and creamy texture.
- High shine finish.
- Long lasting wear.
- Moisturizing formula.
- Wide range of shades available.
Cons of MAC Baby bait Lipglass:
- Can be sticky.
- Not vegan or cruelty-free.
- Expensive.
- May contain synthetic ingredients.
- Can cause allergic reactions for some.
7. MAC Lipglass – Nymphette
Nymphette is a shimmery golden-pink Lipglass. It is a bright, light pink with a warm shimmer. It is extremely comfortable to wear. Its formula is smooth and moisturizes the lips over time. The easy-to-spread formula of this lip gloss lasts up to 4.5 hours. This shimmery pink gloss can be layered over pink lipsticks for a daytime look and deep berry shades for a nighttime look.
Price:
19.0$
My Experience with MAC Nymphette Lipglass:
This is a great gloss as not only is the shimmer so fine and well integrated into the ideal proportion so that it doesn’t read as frost, but the texture is incredible. It doesn’t look goopy, more ‘glassy’ actually. It also has that slight rosy mauve tone which I think is enough color.
I used to be obsessed with Natalie Portman when I was growing up and saved a whole folder of her pictures that I would look at often trying to figure out the way the MUA must have done the makeup as she could look so different from picture to picture. I am convinced this was the gloss used in many of her photoshoots in the late 90s and early 2000s.
8. MAC Cremesheen Glass – Rags to Riches
MAC Cremesheen Glass in the shade Rags To Riches is a very warm-toned mauve shade with a glossy finish. This light-medium dazzling color is suitable for most skin tones. It is easy to wear with any lip color and lasts up to five hours. This shade provides exceptional shine with a crystalline iridescence. Its non-sticky, non-tacky, and lightweight formula moisturizes your lips.
My Experience with MAC Rags to Riches Lipglass:
9. Mac Lipglass – C Thru
Mac Tinted Lipglass in the shade C Thru is a peachy beige with a very mild shimmer. It was launched as a part of one of MAC’s fall color collections. This milky beige nude with a pale white shimmer imparts a mirror-like shine to your lips. Its non-sticky formula offers full coverage. This high-shine lip gloss is perfect for a natural makeup look.
C-Thru isn’t going to win a flashy dance-off with MAC’s louder Lipglasses, but ya know, for some reason, it always keeps me coming back for more.A shimmery, sheer peachy beige/nude, C-Thru goes with just about everything, and I think it’s great for a toned-down lip look. It’s one of my favorite lippies to wear with smokey eyes, usually layered with nude liners like MAC Spice or Subculture. I can totally see Angeline Jolie busting this out every once in a while. It’s simple and neutral, and it goes with almost everything.
10. MAC Lipglass – Lust
Lust is a muted coral Lipglass. This creamy deep nude lip gloss is pigmented enough to stand its own. It offers a nearly opaque coverage with a warm brown undertone. The consistency of this gloss is thick and sticky and looks great over a nude lipstick. It lasts for hours and moisturizes your lips.
My Experience with MAC Lust Lipglass:
let’s assume that your skin is on its best behavior in this scenario, with mellow pores and no dry patches to speak of, since Lust’s mirror-like shine can highlight imperfections. Of course, you don’t have to have skin as smooth as porcelain while you’re getting your swerve on, but to be honest, with Lust, it helps. It’s totally and completely unforgiving, like wearing a rhinestone-encrusted spandex unitard (which is actually quite a feat if you can pull it off).
Lust shines like Ryan Gosling’s eyes in the moonlight… Subtle, it’s not, especially compared to the other MSFs I’ve tried so far from MAC’s Tropical Taboo collection (Adored and Rio), but I think that’s what MAC was going for with Lust. They created a showcase shade.
Final Term:
When it comes to makeup, a good lip glass is key to bringing your entire look together. If you want to invest in a good lip glass, the ones from MAC stand a class apart. To make your search easier, we have compiled a list of factors to consider before purchasing the best MAC lipglass. Check them out now!
- Skin Tone
It is essential to consider your skin tone before buying the best MAC lipglass. Skin tones can be broadly divided into three types: fair, deep, and medium.
- Fair skin tones: Most fair skin tones bode well with subtle shades of color. Therefore, try to opt for nude or clear shades. If you plan to wear lipglass on a lipstick, match it accordingly to bring your look together.
- Medium skin tones: Shades of nude, peach, orange, mauve and subtle reds work well for medium skin tones. However, you can also choose a clear lip glass for everyday wear.
- Deep skin tones: For most dark and deep skin tones, shades of berries, plums, and reds work well, as these colors often flatter your lips. It is best to avoid light or pale shades that may have a stark contrast to your natural skin tone.
- Finish
Consider the finish you want in your lip glass. Most lip glasses come in different finishes. So, you can pick the finish based on your preference. For instance, glittery lip glasses, as the name suggests, have some glitter particles, which are perfect for special occasions. On the other hand, shimmery lip glasses offer a sheer finish and are best for moisturizing your lips.
- Coverage
Choose a lip glass based on your preference for the coverage. Lip glasses, in general, are not as opaque, but they offer some coverage to your lips. For instance, lip glasses with bold colors and a creamy finish have good coverage. In contrast, glittery lip glasses may not offer enough coverage.
